SBC configurations

Acme Packet SBCs can be configured with signaling and media control integrated in a single system (integrated SBC) or with signaling control only (decomposed SBC). Acme Packet offers the following SBC configurations:

  • Net-Net Session Director (SD)—integrated SBC with multiprotocol signaling and media control
  • Net-Net Signaling Firewall (SF)—decomposed SBC with SIP signaling security and other control functions

Net-Net SIP Multimedia-Xpress (SMX) combines core session control with leading session border control functions to reduce the complexity and cost of delivering high-value, revenue generating SIP multimedia services. Net-Net SMX can be used to deliver a broad range of SIP services including residential or business voice, Rich Communication Suite (RCS) services and fixed mobile convergence (FMC) for small subscriber populations or initial service rollouts. Net-Net SMX provides an alternative to an expensive, fully decomposed IMS infrastructure yet also provides an evolutionary path to IMS compliant architectures.

Net-Net Session-aware Load Balancer (SLB) is used with Net-Net Session Directors to create a Net-Net Cluster. A Net-Net Cluster enables linear, non-disruptive capacity scaling to two million subscribers from a single SIP IP address. It supports the delivery of any IMS or NGN service; any SIP application—voice, video, presence, messaging and multimedia; over any access network including the Internet.
