Acme Packet edge boundary controllers for AS-SIP applications

Acme Packet edge boundary controllers (EBC) for AS-SIP (Assured  Services-Session Initiation Protocol) applications are session border controller (SBC) platforms designed to provide voice-aware firewall and back-to-back user agent functionality in accordance with the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Unified Communications Requirements (UCR).  Acme Packet EBCs have been certified for interoperability and information assurance through the U.S. Department of Defense Unified Capabilities (DOD UC) program and are listed on the DOD UC's Approved Product List (APL).    Acme Packet's APL details can be viewed at this URL:  https://aplits.disa.mil/processAPList.do

Acme Packet Net-Net 3820

Acme Packet Net-Net 4500

The Acme Packet EBC solutions for AS-SIP applications are available as two distinct systems, the Net-Net 3820 and Net-Net 4500.  Both platforms feature Acme Packet’s custom hardware design tightly integrated with Acme Packet’s Net-Net operating system (OS) to provide the critical controls for delivering trusted, first-class interactive communications—voice, video and multimedia sessions—across IP network borders.   The Net-Net 3820 and Net-Net 4500 EBCs complement the other Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBC platforms that are widely deployed in commercial enterprise and service provider applications.

Applications

Acme Packet EBCs support the deployment and delivery of a broad range of interactive real time communications services  and applications ranging from basic VoIP to unified communications in a fully secure manner.  The EBCs secure the AS-SIP and H.323 trunking border to internal and external networks.  The AS-SIP, H.323, and IPv4/v6 interworking capabilities of the Acme Packet EBCs ensure interoperability with and between legacy IP PBX equipment and next-generation unified communications platforms.  The EBCs control session admission, IP PBX or UC server loads and overloads, IP network transport and SIP/H.323 session routing.

The Net-Net 3820 and Net-Net 4500 comply with DISA’s UCR specifications and the U.S. Federal Information Processing  Standard (FIPS).  Acme Packet’s implementations of SIP-TLS, IPsec, SSH and SFTP all comply with FIPS 140-2.  The Acme Packet EBCs also support configuration options to mitigate security vulnerabilities as required for products approved by the DISA to connect to Department of Defense Networks.

Security features

Acme Packet’s EBC security framework, Net-SAFE™, features powerful denial-of-service/distributed denial-of service protection at the layer 3, layer 4, IPsec and SIP signaling level, and intrusion detection/prevention capabilities.   Other security features include TLS/SRTP encryption capabilities, dynamic access control, topology hiding, privacy and confidentiality, service infrastructure DoS/DDoS protection, virus and SPIT protection, and fraud prevention.  All of these security capabilities ensure that EBC can provide meet the stringent security requirements associated with AS-SIP applications.
